A Termius alternative for machines behind NAT

linkport Terminal vs Termius

Both are desktop SSH clients with SFTP, port forwarding and AI help. Termius adds mobile apps, sync and a free plan. linkport Terminal adds the part Termius leaves to you: reaching machines behind NAT without an open port, an assistant on your own model, and MCP for AI agents.

Termius facts are from termius.com/pricing as of 13 Oct 2026. Products change — check their current page before you decide.

Which one fits

They overlap on the everyday SSH work. They differ on where your machines are and who else needs to reach them.

Choose Termius if

  • You need the same client on iOS and Android.
  • You want hosts synced across your devices and a shared team vault.
  • You want a free plan for SSH and SFTP.
  • Your company asks for a SOC 2 report or SAML SSO.

Choose linkport Terminal if

  • Your machines sit behind NAT, CGNAT, LTE or a firewall with no public IP.
  • You want the AI assistant on your own OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini key, or a local model.
  • You want AI agents to reach servers over MCP, with read-only mode and command lists at the edge.
  • You hand people a revocable link instead of an SSH key.

Move your hosts from Termius

Hosts and groups come over in one import. Nothing is added until you have seen the preview.

  1. Export from Termius

Save your hosts and groups as a JSON export.

  2. Import in linkport Terminal

Pick Termius in Import. A preview shows every host and its status before anything is added; groups come along.

  3. Type saved passwords once

They are not imported: other clients store them reversibly, and moving such secrets silently is not safe.

  4. Add machines behind NAT

Install the linkport agent on them; they appear in the host list with a linkport tag.

Questions about switching

Is linkport Terminal an alternative to Termius?

For desktop SSH, yes: SSH, SFTP, split panes, snippets and a key vault on Windows, macOS and Linux, and it imports your hosts from Termius. It also reaches machines behind NAT through a linkport link, and its AI assistant runs on your own key or a local model. There are no mobile apps, and using it needs Pro or Team.

Can I import my hosts from Termius or PuTTY?

Yes. linkport Terminal imports from ~/.ssh/config, PuTTY (a .reg file or the Windows registry), Termius, MobaXterm, SecureCRT and Royal TS, with a preview before anything is added. Saved passwords are not imported: other clients store them reversibly, so you type them once.

Is there a free plan?

No. The download is public, but using linkport Terminal needs Pro or Team, prepaid for 30 days or a year with no auto-renewal.

Does linkport Terminal have mobile apps?

No. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. On a phone, open a machine’s link in the browser terminal.
